Risedale High School

School food tech room

The brief

Risedale High School, situated in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, required refurbishments on several rooms to better fulfil their requirements. The rooms that required refurbishments included three laboratories, two prep rooms, an art room, and a food technology room. There was insufficient storage in the laboratories, the prep and art rooms required modernising, and the food room had to be larger to accommodate 30 students, including a cooking area and classroom space.

Our solution

To begin the project, YPO, North Yorkshire County Council and Align Property Services completed a full site survey of the school. During the site visit, we noted possible clashes and issues, such as hidden steel and pipework, low windowsill heights, and details on the exterior walls that prevented wall fixings. Following the site survey, we provided 2D and 3D layouts, sections, quotations and mechanical and electrical positions. The furniture and design were adjusted to accommodate the possible clashes we noted in the site survey. Once the school approved and signed off the plans, we could get to work on the installation.

The outcome

We successfully completed the full installation of all the fitted and loose furniture, including inductions ovens, mobile fume cupboards and docking stations, hand towels, soap dispensers and more.
