Immanuel College


Immanuel College, situated in Bradford, is one of the area’s biggest Secondary Schools. Due to the increased intake of pupils expected in the near furniture, it was necessary to expand the School and increase the number of laboratories and a servicing Prep Room. The School identified 4 Classrooms could be adapted to create the 3 labs required.

YPO worked with Farrell and Clark Architects to help develop the perfect layout and furniture specification. Once all plans were approved the project when out to tender, with William Birch and sons appointed as main contractor.

The design brief was to create a multi-purpose layout for 32 pupils, with services around the perimeter and loose tables in the middle. Each lab would have service connections to a shared mobile fume cupboard. The adjacent Prep room would service the labs and provide sufficient desk space for teachers and Technicians. 

YPO were appointed by William birch to install the fitted and loose furniture and mobile fume cupboards during the builder’s programme, with completion and hand over before the School returned in September.

The finished rooms are light and modern with plenty of storage and floor space. The use of a mobile Teachers desk allows flexible teaching and interaction with pupils.
