This course is intended for people who are new to public sector procurement, or for those who simply want a refresher.

Using plain English rather than jargon, it examines the governance and legislation that drives procurement, as well as looking at elements of contract law and procedures for undertaking successful and compliant procurement within the public sector.

We offer two options for training modules:

This course is suitable for anyone involved with managing contracts either now or in the future.

There is a sharpening focus on the management of contracts in the public sector. It is increasingly recognised that in order to deliver improved value for money, eﬃciency, levels of service, and outcomes, attention must be paid throughout the lifecycle of any contract; not just at tender stage or when things go wrong.

This course looks at both procurement and contract management cycles, paying particular attention to definitions, contract terms, practical contract management strategies, and processes.

An Appreciation of Public Sector Procurement

This course is designed primarily for staff who aren’t directly employed as procurement professionals, but whose working lives may be touched by procurement.

This no-nonsense session will attempt to demystify the procurement process, taking into account the governance and legislation that drives public sector procurement, as well as looking at elements of contract law and procedures with which the public sector, is required to comply. The session will explain the timescales, documentation and procedures which ensure compliance and, ultimately, positive outcomes for patients and service users.
