Crofton Academy

The brief
Crofton Academy, located in Wakefield, wanted to expand their technology block by developing a new food technology room.
The school required a room design catering to 24 pupils with access to 10 electric ovens and sinks. They also wished to incorporate a teacher's bench with a built-in hob and oven, space for demonstrations and access to a computer.

The challenge
The school had an unused IT room they wanted to refurbish and use as their new food technology room. However, transitioning from a room layout fit for IT to a food technology room sounded like a big job. So, Crofton Academy decided to reach out to YPO's furniture and design team to help them plan and manage the furniture design project.
The process
To begin the project, YPO conducted a full site survey of the school to determine the most effective way to lay out the new room using what was already there.
After producing a mock-up room layout, a meeting was held with the school and YPO's design team members to review the plans to ensure the school was happy with the arrangements and furniture options suggested. Once the layout and furniture options were signed off, the school chose the colour of their furnishings to suit their preferences and an installation date for the project was booked.
The solution
The installation began right on time and was completed ahead of schedule, allowing plenty of time for the school to get settled in with their new room.
At the end of the project, the school were delighted with the modern finished look of the refurbished room and furniture, especially the amount of storage options available and the new height-adjustable furniture. Result!
