As a public sector buying organisation it is our responsibility to ensure public spending generates additional economic, social and environmental benefits beyond the goods or services being procured. At YPO we embed social value into the whole procurements process ensuring a positive impact is delivered for our communities, supply chain and environment whilst meeting the expectations of our customers.

Implementation of a reporting tool to allow Social impact delivered through YPO frameworks to be communicated to customers.

We will aim to –
• Continually improve the quality and accuracy of our reporting on the social impact delivered by suppliers on YPO frameworks
• Transparently report social value outputs to YPO stakeholders

Achieved so far -
• Partnered with Social Value Engine to capture, measure and report on social value delivered in procurement
• In 2020, YPO launched our Responsible Procurement Policy
• Social Value Commitments are embedded in all opportunities created under the Procurement Act 2023

Modern Slavery Mitigation Programme to be implemented by 2027.

We will aim to –
• Develop mitigation options and recommendations for the whole procurement cycle
• Review and conduct a gap analysis of current procedures

Achieved so far –
• Modern Slavery risk assessments conducted at tender plan stage
• Mitigation options and recommendations in place at submission stage
• Detailed award question within the tender on modern slavery and trafficking within their supply chain
• Requirement for all suppliers to agree and sign YPO’s Suppliers Code of Conduct

Empowering SMEs and VCSEs

A structured programme for SMEs and VCSEs to support with public sector procurement.

We will aim to –
• Collaborate with Go4Growth to develop resources and support for SMEs and VCSEs through a yearly training plan

• Dedicated Go4Growth resource page on our website for SMEs and VCSEs

Preparing for the Procurement Act - Legal training

At YPO, we offer access to unique training that helps both customers and suppliers prepare and design the way that public sector procures. We aim to offer a compliant, cost-effective route to market for external legal advice and professional support.

Go4Growth training course

In 2024 to support our suppliers to enhance their understanding of social value and how to effectively implement social value in YPO procurement activities, we collaborated with Go4Growth to create a free course, available below.
