Getting children to make gifts to coincide with key events is a wonderful way to build relationships with parents. With Mother’s Day coming up soon, we’ve provided a couple of fun craft activities you could do with children for this.

Make a cushion cover

A cushion is a gift that can be used every day of the year. Here children can make a personalised cushion for their guardian that will be loved for a very long time.

What you’ll need:

302223 – Design Your Own Cushion Cover
304922Wool Toy Filling
320564 – Scola Fabric Paint
323012 – YPO Fabric Crayons
323004 – YPO Fabric Pens
309871/302367 – Buttons
307788 – Polyester Felt Assorted Colours
304924 – Fabric Glue
313785 – Go Green Scissors

Step 1

Firstly, get creative and start by decorating your cushion cover using fabric markers, fabric crayons or fabric paint.

Step 2

Next, add buttons, felt or any other additional collage materials and secure these with fabric glue. Let your imagination run wild!

Step 3

Finally, stuff your cushion with wool toy filling or a standard 30cm pillow cushion.

Create a flower pot

Who doesn’t love receiving flowers as a gift? Here, children can get creative and make their own flower pot filled with pipe cleaner flowers that will last forever.

What you’ll need:

302220 – Papier Mache Flower Pots
735109 – YPO Jumbo Colouring Markers
710523 – YPO Premium Colourmarkers
713371 – Clear PVA
749265 – YPO Glitter Shakers
301795 – Bumper Shape Assortment Pack
302016/321036 – Pipe Cleaners
117412 – Yellow Tissue Paper
118532 – Coloured Tissue Paper
307785 – Raffia Assorted

Step 1

Firstly, release your artistic side by decorating your flower pot with colouring pens.

Step 2

Secondly, add your glitter or paper shapes by pasting clear PVA glue onto the flower pot.

Step 3

Next, cut your pipe cleaners to the desired length then twist and turn into flowers. You may need to use raffia or string to secure the flowers, so they keep their shape.

Step 4

Finally, stuff the pot with tissue paper and add your flowers to finish.
