Streethay Primary School is part of the Shaw Education Trust and has been built in line with the new Miller homes housing development in Lichfield. With Staffordshire Council, Entrust Education have been managing the schools’ new build development for 210 children. Through working with Entrust Education, YPO have also delivered and installed all loose furniture at Poppyfields Primary Academy, Cannock and The John Taylor Free School, Burton on Trent.
Challenge
The main challenge for Stuart Taylor (Headmaster) was in collating a schedule of items required. We worked together with Stuart and Entrust Education to compile a schedule and kept this regularly updated with any additions/deductions as the project progressed.
The challenge for Stuart in managing suppliers’ deliveries would not have been the best use of his time. This is a service that the YPO design team provide, and YPO’s Project Managers coordinate all deliveries, as well as providing and managing an installation team to carry the work out.
The Process
The project consisted of 2 phases; the first phase including the key stage 1 classrooms with nursery equipment/zones such as messy play, role play and reading corners. Key stage 2 then followed a typical classroom layout for juniors. During the first phase, the furniture for all offices, storerooms, meeting rooms, staff rooms, the hall and outdoor furniture was delivered. Phase 2 also incorporated the delivery and installation of the LRC and reception seating.
Solution
The YPO assisted with each stage of the project from submitting quotations, to space planning, coordinating suppliers’ deliveries, managing the installation team and snagging all furniture and installations carried out.
Through regular site visits and consistent communication with the school, suppliers and the installation team, YPO provided a high level of service. The headmaster has commented on how quickly work had been carried out and that he is very pleased with the service YPO have provided.
