The evolution of the global drone market
The drone market continues to evolve rapidly to meet growing demands. A report by Price Waterhouse and Cooper states that by 2030, there could be nearly one million drones in our skies, helping organisations save around £22 billion and reduce carbon emissions by 2.4 million tons. The report also contains examples of public sector organisations demonstrating significant savings from using them. PWC estimate that by 2030, Public, Defence, Health and Education sectors could achieve cost savings of £4.6 billion by 2030.
The benefits of drones in the public sector
Many public sector organisations have not explored the benefits that drone technology can bring. Through education and understanding, learning more about their capabilities, and considering limitations, organisations can feel more confident in using them. The UK Government has released a Drone Ambition Statement and is working with organisations such as the Civil Aviation Authority and other bodies to drive forward greater use. Drones continue to change the way we work whilst saving money, time and reducing our carbon footprint.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority there were 513,860 active drone flyers and operators registered in the UK in 2023.
