The challenge
North Yorkshire Police provide an outstanding service to the people of York and North Yorkshire, aiming to keep everyone safe.
A recent issue has been raised regarding their supply of goods, particularly for police uniforms. Their previous framework agreement with another organization was going to lapse for the provision of firearms uniform. It was made apparent that there would be a considerably long delay expected at the launch of the framework due to trial testing, a necessary step to ensure that any new supplier could meet the quality standards requested by police forces.
Recognising the risk this posed to the continuity of supply and the negative impacts it would have on existing workforce operations, North Yorkshire Police aimed to find a more effective and compliant route to market which could reduce these risks, ensuring continual supply of critical uniforms, and allowing officers to continue providing the best services to the local communities.
The solution
YPO provided a framework agreement which allowed direct award based on continuity of use. The PPE Workwear, Uniform and Managed Services – 1204 – Framework was used, ensuring the delivery of high-quality PPE and clothing for trained officers in a seamless manner, without experiencing any supply delays or issues.
The result
YPO offered a quick and efficient solution that clearly identified the available options for awarding. The procurement process was also transparent and straightforward.
Experience with YPO
North Yorkshire Police said:
‘I have used YPO frequently for multiple products and use them whenever searching for frameworks for an existing need within the organisation.
They provided us with clear and precise definitions of award with plenty of competition documentation to inform decisions and support for further competition if needed. They had a direct award pricing schedule available on request which made the costs clear, and we were able to make clear comparisons to similar products across the market.’
