My Journey to YPO
I finished university in 2014 with an honour’s degree in Human Geography and Education with the idea of becoming a teacher, however I decided on a different career path. Following university, I worked at Wakefield Council as administrator and Barnsley Council as a procurement officer. This gave me a great insight into how public sector organisations operate, including the increased importance of value for money, social value and complying with legislative duties such as the Public Contract Regulations 2015. I’m looking forward to working with all the new suppliers and customers at YPO, whilst bringing my experience to the established team.
My procurement experience
During my time at Wakefield Council, I was able to gain experience of purchasing routine items for our team, utilising the principles of best value. This opportunity allowed me to experience procurement which sparked an interest. Two years later, I moved to Barnsley Council as a procurement officer where I worked across several categories, but predominantly Health, Care, Communities and Public Health. This is where I developed my knowledge of the Public Contract Regulations 2015 through working with the Governance team, and leading on several procurements where I enabled stakeholders to carry out compliant procedures. I look forward to the challenges of a new category where I can build upon the skills and knowledge I have gained from working in the public sector while ensuring all of our customers achieve best value and the outcomes they require.
My role at YPO
I have recently joined the fleet procurement team at YPO and can already say that after such a short time, everyone is welcoming with the same end goal of helping our customers and suppliers achieve. My role will be focusing on the many frameworks that YPO’s fleet procurement team have to offer, which will include an element of ensuring the frameworks are up to date alongside ensuring any customer and supplier enquiries are processed. I look forward to meeting the customers and suppliers at YPO, where I can introduce myself to see how I can assist them to achieve their goals while developing my knowledge of the category and developing any future markets.
About me
In my spare time I like to get out and about where I can with the family and having a good walk with our Border Collie. When not doing that, I have recently started training to gain my Private Pilot’s Licence.
