Here are some facts about Kate:
What will you be doing in your role at YPO?
My main responsibilities include supporting the Category Buyers and managing the procurement process throughout the whole tender process, measuring supplier performance against contractual standards and performance expectations, ownership and management of contractual frameworks, and managing customers further competitions. I also support with day-to-day inquiries and operations and regularly analyse the fleet market to keep up to date with trends, changes, and new opportunities.
What are your first impressions of YPO?
Everyone I’ve met has been lovely and welcoming with a real family feel. I’m looking forward to getting to grips with the role and working alongside everyone.
I’m proud to be part of a caring organisation that not only gives back to the public sector and local communities, but also to the staff. Already I have a sense of feeling valued for my procurement career to date and can see the ample amount of career development opportunities - something I strongly value.
If you were to sum up your time at YPO, so far, in one word, what would it be?
Inspiring.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part is being able to offer a solution for the customer, offering excellent customer service, value for money, and obtaining the best possible outcomes. I enjoy engaging with suppliers and sourcing the market for potential suppliers, goods, and services. Also, identifying any gaps and being able to bring solutions to the market. The variety of tasks keeps the role from being monotonous but also requires excellent task management.
Describe your role in three words:
Engaging, Challenging, Rewarding.
How did you get involved in procurement?
I fell into buying 8 years ago, intrigued by it - I wanted to learn more. After studying CIPS whilst working in the private retail sector, I wanted to implement my knowledge and experiences in the procurement world. And where better than YPO, looking after public spend delivering a variety of goods and services directly to consumers.
I spent many years delivering educational products to schools and nurseries. I have a great understanding of routes to market and compliance around public spend so felt this was the perfect move to further develop my procurement career.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to get outdoors and living in the Peak District offers a great variety of activities on my doorstep. Whether it’s hiking, bike rides, paddle boarding, or horse riding. I’ll get stuck into anything.
I also enjoy plenty of time with family and friends, relaxing vacations, and city breaks!
