Name: Katie Beaumont
Position: Further Competition Co-Ordinator
How long have you been working for YPO? 2 Years
What do you like the most about YPO?
The main factor I admire about YPO is how much they value their staff. Due to joining YPO as an apprentice, I have seen several areas of the business, and I love how no matter which team, position, or area of the business you are in, everyone is appreciated equally.
What are your main responsibilities?
My main responsibilities include working alongside the rest of the IT procurement team to support them in all different areas, such as responding to customer queries, assisting with supplier relationship management, and even getting involved in marketing our frameworks. I also assist the team with full administrative support. When customers want to access/use one of our frameworks, I am the main contact for publishing further competitions on our e-tendering portal and answering any clarifications suppliers and customers may have. I help customers daily in their procurement by offering advice and compliant routes to market, making purchasing a smooth and easy process.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
I came into this role with no background in procurement. Therefore learning the job remotely with the odd day in the office has proven to be a challenge! However, it is so rewarding when the processes you learn start to make sense. I’m looking forward to learning more and more each day and progressing within the team.
Describe your role in three words:
Exciting, interesting, and challenging
How did you get involved in procurement?
When joining the IT procurement team, I was completely new to procurement. I started at YPO as an apprentice in the business support department. After six months, I moved to a different side of the customer services team. After 12 months of working in customer service, I knew I was ready for a new challenge. Procurement services was always a side of YPO which I wanted to explore, if I was given the chance! When the role of Further Competition Co-Ordinator was announced, I was keen to find out more. Thankfully I was successful after the interview, and they offered me the role – and I’ve never looked back! I’m so excited to continue growing and learning within the team.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
All my spare time is taken up by my one-year-old Sprocker Spaniel, Minnie! Anyone who owns a Sprocker will agree with me, they are a full-time job in themselves! I walk Minnie at least an hour a day, sometimes more. On weekends I enjoy bottomless brunching with my amazing friends and visiting my family as much as I can.
