As a company we recognise the importance of volunteering and the positive impact it has on the individual volunteering and communities. This is why, as part of our 50th year celebrations, in February we announced our new volunteering policy, providing employees with the opportunity to volunteer for up to one day (pro-rata for part-time colleagues). This is a significant milestone in our proud history as we continue to make a difference in the communities we support.
By the end of this year the volunteering policy has delivered a social impact of £1,642 and 15 of our fantastic staff members have provided a combined total of 97 hours of their time to good causes.
We've received some really positive feedback from our employees that have used their volunteering leave;
“I enjoyed being able to make a difference to the children by applying my skills and experience of coaching and managing teams to be able to provide the kids with the best possible chance of succeeding.” Matthew Pinders – Category Buyer
“I’d recommend anyone to try and volunteer some of their time during the week because you see the positive impact you make, and, you also get personal satisfaction from the job you’re doing” Lewis Sale – Internal Communications Officer
“All in all we both had a brilliant day, being able to help and see the kids getting outside, active and enjoying themselves. It was a great opportunity to combine YPO’s sponsorship of the events and supporting the running of them through YPO’s volunteering scheme. We even got the chance to meet Alistair Brownlee too” Ryan Pygott – Category Buyer and John Healey – Category Manager
