This festive season, we've put together three easy crafts using POSCA paint markers. Read below for our three favourite Christmas crafts, ideal for classrooms and beyond.
POSCA is ideal for all sorts of Christmas projects. The paint marker contains water-based pigment ink which is lightfast, water resistant and will write on almost any surface. POSCA pens are also permanent and bleed-proof on paper and card (as it absorbs into the fibres). Perfect for a range of festive crafts!
Christmas tree jars
During the festive season it’s great to give little gifts and stocking fillers. For a perfect little treat, fill mini jars decorated with a classic seasonal design. We love this festive project as it uses mini plastic jars, which you can fill with Christmassy sweets or trinkets, and our trusty POSCA paint markers.

You will need:
- A set of mini plastic jars
- 3M POSCA pens in green, white, purple, red and gold.
How to make:
- This tree design consists of three layers of small, medium and large zig-zags. To create your first layer, use the green POSCA paint maker to make a rough triangle shape for the top of the festive fir.
- For the second layer, use your green POSCA make a bigger curved zig-zag line under the triangle. Now use your green POSCA to make a third layer by drawing a slightly larger zig-zag line to sit at the bottom.
- While the green marks are still wet, go over your rough lines with your white POSCA to make a textured design. Now leave to dry.
- Make sure your tree design is completely dry to the touch. You should know when your illustration is dry because your colour goes from shiny to matte. Now add further texture by adding dashes of white POSCA. Leave this to dry again.
- Again, once the white strokes are dry you can add baubles and tinsel. You do this by simply making dots and dashes with your violet and gold POSCA pens.
Holly bauble card
We’ve incorporated this classic Christmassy illustration into a bauble design. We ensured that you can recreate this design easily with our illustration step by step. All you need is a set of plain card blanks and some 5M POSCA paint markers.

You will need:
How to make:
- Make your round bauble shape. You want a perfect round shape to sit in the centre of your card. We’ve used a roll of tape to draw around but you can use a cup or pair of compasses to make your circle.
- Draw in your foliage - Start at the centre of your disc so you have one central focal point.
- Use your green POSCA to draw your holly leaves. Do this by making a curved line and making an inverted scallop-edge along either side of the line. Then join the scalloped lines at the top of the curved line.
- Once you make your central motif you can place your holly leaf designs around the bauble. Make sure you vary the size and angle of your holly.
- Create simple sprig designs around your leaves. Make a curved line with your green POSCA. Then draw long loops along the side of the line.
- Make your silver fir springs by making little flicks along one central line. To create your laurel leaves, use your orange POSCA to make a curved line with a loop at the top. Then make horizontal figures of eight along those lines.
- Create mini mistletoe berries by making small diagonal dash with your green POSCA and adding little dots of gold POSCA at the top.
- Use your red POSCA to make holly berries and embellish the fir sprigs with dots of berries.
- You can now finish off your design with your black and white POSCA paint markers.
Snowflake bauble card
Looking for a simple project to try for Christmas? We have an easy festive greeting step by step that is super simple to recreate. All you need is a set of plan card blanks and some 3M POSCA paint markers.

You will need:
How to make:
- First make your round bauble shape. We’ve used a roll of tape to draw around but you can use a cup or pair of compasses to make your disc.
- Once you have your shape, start drawing on your snowflakes. We have used a combination of blue and violet POSCA pen colours but you can try any colour combo you like.
- Start at the centre of your circle so you have one central focal point. You can then place snowflakes at various sizes around the central motif.
- To create your snowflake, first make a large cross. We’ve slightly curved our lines to appear as the shapes are sitting on the round bauble. Now you’ve made your cross, draw diagonal intersecting lines across the middle as shown. After you’ve made your central cross, plan your snowflakes around the shape.
- Now you can get creative with your snowflake designs. You can make diagonal dashes along the lines of your crosses, and make loops and dots in the centre.
- Finish the central design with more loops along the diagonal lines and some dots around the snowflake.
- Now decorate your other snowflakes with hearts, dots, loops and dashes as shown.
- Once you’ve filled your shape with snowflake designs you can further embellish the bauble.
- Now you’re done! You can use your plain card pack and your POSCAs to create a collection of different coloured snowflake baubles greetings.
