The Appropriate Adults (AA) DPS has been developed with the National Appropriate Adult Network (NAAN) and will enable those who commission Appropriate Adults Services within the Police and Crime Commissioners, Youth Offending Teams, Adult Social Care and the local authorities to access a compliant route to market, from a wide range of service providers.
The Service is for children or vulnerable adults (as defined by PACE Code C) who are detained in police custody or voluntary interview as a suspect, when a referral is made by the police.
Providers on this DPS will either provide AA Services for Children or Vulnerable Adults or both.
Providers have also indicated which regions within the UK they are able to provide their service to. Please refer to the Provider tab for more information.
Throughout the life of this DPS there will be open rounds for new Providers to join providing they pass the mandatory minimum selection criteria, set by YPO.
Effective Appropriate Adult practice requires high-quality training. NAAN offer training to providers whether its initial training for brand new recruits or refresher for experienced practitioners, they can help with a range of AA training options based on the NAAN and Youth Justice Board (YJB) national standards.
