Recall Notice – Habico Coloured Sand

5th August 2026

YPO item codes;

• 733604 Sand Fluorescent Assorted Colours 350g Pack of 6
• 747335 Coloured Sand 350g Shakers – Pack of 20, Assorted.

This recall applies to goods purchased on or after 1st June 2023. The affected product can be identified by the statement ‘distributed by Habico Ltd, LS12 4BD’ printed on the label.

Habico Recall

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a product recall for certain coloured sand products supplied by Habico Ltd, as the sand in the jars may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. The products have been withdrawn from sale and are being recalled as a precautionary measure.
The recall notice is available here: 2606-0268-product-recall-habico-sand.pdf. These products are not manufactured by YPO. The supplier, Habico Ltd, has been instructed by Trading Standards to recall the identified products from the market.

Action required:

• Stop using the product immediately.
• If the sand is still in its packaging, place in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double tape it securely, label it clearly and store in a secure location out of reach of children.
• If the sand has been used, clean-up sites where the product was used using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Double bag the sand, gloves, mask and cloths.
• Keep children and other people away from areas where the sand has been used until the area has been cleaned.
• Customers do not need to return the product to YPO, we will not be collecting on this occasion.
• Please follow the steps above and contact your local authority / access their website for guidance on safe disposal in your area.

To receive your furniture items before your school closes, please ensure you place your furniture order by Friday 12 June before 12 noon.

Furniture Delivery During Summer Holidays

If your school is open to receive orders during the summer holidays, please ensure that you provide opening times, contact name and telephone number to avoid re-delivery charges.

Summer Holiday Deliveries – book your slot

It is important to note that if you miss the above cut-off dates and do not request summer delivery, your items will be delivered within the first week of your return to school date.

We’re increasing our paper prices

We know that cost pressures remain a challenge for our customers, and as one of the UK’s largest public-sector buying organisations, we’re continually reviewing the market to help keep prices as stable as possible.

We’ve held off increasing our paper prices for as long as we could, but due to further global price increases and ongoing pressures in the paper market, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to raise our prices.

We understand this may be frustrating, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be assured that we’ve done everything we can to limit the impact on our customers and will continue to work closely with our suppliers to review prices and availability.

If you need paper over the coming weeks or months, we’d encourage you to place your order now while products are still available at the current price.

Summer Term Deliveries for Schools

We want to make sure that you get what you need during our busiest time of the year. If you’re breaking up for summer and want to guarantee your order is delivered before your school closes, please see our cut-off dates below.

Stock Items

Stock items can be purchased for delivery using our standard 72-hour service or our next day delivery option.

72 Hour Service

To ensure you receive goods before your school closes for Summer, we recommend:

England & Wales: Place orders on or before Tuesday 14 July before 12 noon
Scotland: Place orders on or before Tuesday 23 June before 12 noon

Next Day Delivery

Our next day delivery option is available on stock items. Place your order online before 3pm and ensure you allow enough time for your order to be delivered before your school closes.
