Food Information to Consumer Regulation: Allergens

The Food Information for Consumers regulation is a new EU law covering all aspects of food labelling and allergen information, applicable from 13 December 2014.

On packaged foods, allergens will be highlighted in bold where they appear in an ingredient list, and include cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soya beans, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulphur dioxide, lupin and molluscs.

Caterers are expected to provide a consumer with ingredient information about dishes they serve for any of these 14 allergens, so it is important to keep a record of recipes and ingredients you buy.

Disclaimer: As product information, ingredients or allergy advice may change, please read the product label carefully before using or consuming any products, rather than relying solely on the information provided in this website and attachments.
