This 2-in-1 tray/shelf stock cupboard is an essential for keeping teaching resources private, safe and protected in any classroom – whilst also saving money and space compared to alternatives. Use the convenient combination of storage solutions to keep lesson plans, worksheets, stationery, books and equipment organised and in one place.

Design
Inside, the cupboard is divided into two sections for different types of storage. On the bottom, there are 18 shallow trays, ideal for neatly organising paper, books and smaller stationery items. The top half of the cupboard however is comprised of 2 fixed shelves, creating 3 shelf compartments for you to store larger items such as books, lever arch files, games, pen pots and anything that may require quick and easy access. Compared to the adjustable shelves commonly found with alternatives, fixed shelves are much more secure and will hold heavier items without any problems.

The design incorporates high quality lockable doors with anti-finger trap hinges and robust, nickel-plated metal handles. With lockable doors, it is possible to limit access only to those with a key, keeping the contents protected from unauthorised use. Unsafe substances and specialist equipment such as those used in science labs can be kept safe for greater peace of mind, as well as answer sheets or stationery that is at risk of being taken without permission. The doors also hide the contents to limit distractions, and provide a protective barrier against spillages in art and science classrooms.

The cupboard itself is static for permanent status and safe usage in any environment.

Metroplan units can be fully customised with the option to mix and match trays (on request). You can choose any combination of tray colours you like, whether as a visual aid, to match a colour scheme, or simply make a classroom more exciting. Edges are colour matched with the units for a guaranteed contemporary design.

Construction
This unit is constructed using 18mm thick melamine faced chipboard (MFC); a classroom favourite that assures high-level strength and durability with frequent, heavy use. To complement this is the use of 2mm ABS edges; smooth to the touch, and as attractive as they are protective to both the user and the unit itself. In fact, ABS edges completely eliminate the risk of splinters and scratches to the skin, and protect the MFC against chipping for a full and satisfying lifespan.

The trays provided are manufactured by Gratnells, one of the top education storage specialists in the UK, and the go-to tray provider for the majority of schools. Their popularity can be attributed to the super-strong polypropylene construction that ensures a lifetime of use at an affordable price. The trays are also compatible with many other furniture items to enable future upcycling.
