POSCA Paint Markers are in a league of their own as a creative tool. They are a ‘pen that acts like paint’, providing all the same creative uses as paint, but with the convenience and control of a pen. Water-based and non-toxic, POSCA markers are ideal for children in terms of safety and ease-of-use, and are simultaneously erasable on non-porous surfaces and permanent on porous surfaces too. With such incredible versatility, POSCA Paint Markers are an undeniable essential in your classroom.

Paint Marker Benefits
Paint markers are superior to both pens and paint in the classroom for a variety of reasons. As POSCA is quite literally just paint in a pen, you can use all the same techniques and achieve the same look, but through the familiar pen-style that children will find easy to hold and control, and with a reduction in mess and hassle that comes with washing brushes or spilling paints and water pots.

With high-density coverage, paint markers eliminate unsightly white space that pens can leave behind, as well as brush or pen strokes. Colour will be evenly distributed regardless of pressure, making them again fantastic for children who will achieve stunning results despite less artistic experience.

Children can use POSCA markers to build up confidence in different painting techniques before practising them with more traditional tools. As you can treat POSCA just like paint, you are able to overlay existing dry colour with details, outlines and highlights. This is especially easy with the fast-drying time that prevents smudging. On the other hand, before the ink dries, you can use a wet brush to work the water-soluble paint to achieve the desired effect, or even mix in colours by blending with the tip or a rag in order to create gradations of colour.

Pigment-Rich Water-Based Ink
As the formula is very rich in pigments, POSCA paint has incomparable density and gorgeous colour that lays down with a creamy consistency. The colour also appears bright, matte and opaque whilst withstanding the passage of time thanks to its water-based formulation, which also makes it non-toxic, odourless and weather-resistant.

Unlike many alcohol-based alternatives, POSCA’s water-based pigment lives in the pen’s barrel rather than the nib. This allows your paint colour to be refreshed with every use, helping it last much longer, and allowing you to blend colours without spoiling them as with a pen. Instead, the nib works much like a paintbrush, and can be removed from the barrel and washed under a tap if needed.

Permanence
POSCA paint is erasable on most smooth non-porous surfaces, such as PVC, glass and metal, yet permanent and bleed-proof on porous surfaces such as paper, card, canvas, pebbles and cardboard. On fabric, the markers are semi-permanent, and the paint can be made permanent on the following:
• Terracotta – bake at 220°C for 45 minutes, then finish with clear non-toxic varnish
• Porcelain – bake at 160°C for 45 minutes, then finish with clear non-toxic varnish
• Glass – bake at 160°C for 45 minutes then finish with a clear non-toxic varnish
• Metal, stone, leather, plastic and wood – spray with clear non-toxic varnish

You can also protect creations such as paintings on canvas, customisation and decoration with a fixative varnish in order to protect your work for longer.

Perfect For Classrooms
Such versatility makes the markers perfect for classrooms where a variety of materials will be used in various projects, from practical to creative. Adding to this, the alcohol-free, odourless, non-toxic formula is extra safe for students - so safe in fact that beekeepers in the USA use POSCA markers to identify the queen in beehives! The solvent-free formula is also easy to wash off if students accidentally mark furniture. This classpack is supplied in a shallow Gratnells tray for easy and convenient storage in any tray unit in the classroom.

5mm Bullet Tips
These markers are the PC-5M variety, meaning they use 5mm bullet tips. This is considered a medium tip with a line width of 1.8-2.5mm, producing clean and crisp yet bold lines with vibrant colour coverage. This versatile marker is suitable for a wide range of projects as a result – especially colouring – and is the go-to for amateurs and professionals alike. In addition, the robust cylindrical body is easy to hold for smaller hands, and allows enough control to perform complex painting techniques.

The PC-5M POSCA marker specifically has tips that are washable, replaceable, and reversible for maximum quality and value for money.
