YPO, the UK’s largest publicly owned buying organisation, has been crowned Supplier of the Year at the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) Education Resources Awards 2014.
The awards, which celebrate the successes of suppliers and teaching professionals in the UK education sector, took place on Friday 21 March 2014 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull. YPO, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year, took away the prestigious award in the over £10 million annual turnover category.
Simon Hill, Managing Director of YPO, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won such a prestigious award at the Education Resources Awards this year, in what will be our 40th birthday. It is fantastic recognition for our teams who are committed to delivering the best value and service throughout the education sector.”
YPO was also highly commended at the National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards on 19 March in the GO Team of the Year Award – Local Government and Consortia category. These recent award successes reinforce YPO’s leading position in the procurement industry and shortly follow the government consulting YPO as part of its Communities and Local Government Select Committee report, which found that councils across the country need to get the best possible value from the money they spend on procuring goods and services.
YPO supplies public sector organisations with products and contracts, and is 100% publicly owned, meaning that all profits are returned to YPO customers and member authorities. The organisation’s range includes over 30,000 products and 150 contracts, covering everything from pens and pencils, computers and furniture to electricity and insurance.
