YPO, the UK’s largest publicly owned buying organisation, has been crowned Supplier of the Year at the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) Education Resources Awards 2015 for the second year in a row.
YPO was awarded the title in the over £10 million annual turnover sub-category at a ceremony held in Birmingham. The awards, now in their 16th year, celebrate the successes of suppliers and teaching professionals in the UK education sector.
The judges, an independent panel of experienced educational professionals, most of whom are classroom teachers, were impressed by YPO’s comprehensive range of services and the added value they offer through free advice and exceptional service. The judges also commented on YPO’s clear focus on its people, including its employees, customers and young people.
Jo Marshall, Executive Director at YPO, said: “To be crowned Supplier of the Year for the second year in a row is a great achievement. This award not only recognises the quality and diversity of our educational resources and products, but is also fantastic recognition for our staff, who are committed to delivering the best value and service for our customers.”
YPO has recently been named one of the best not-for-profit organisations for employee engagement, according to the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For 2015. The prestigious list ranks YPO in 71st place from a shortlist of 100 not-for-profit organisations from around the country. These recent award successes reinforce YPO’s leading position in the procurement industry.
YPO supplies public sector organisations with products and contracts, and is 100% publicly owned, meaning that all profits are returned to YPO customers and member authorities. The organisation’s range includes over 30,000 products and 150 contracts, covering everything from pens and pencils, computers and furniture to electricity and insurance.
Caroline Wright, Director at BESA, comments: “The UK education sector is currently in the unprecedented position of offering ever improving standards of excellence. Thousands of educators from across the world visit the UK each year to review and buy products from our suppliers because of the quality offered. We would like to congratulate YPO for its outstanding business.”
