The YPO Food and Catering teams attended this year’s Main Event at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham, hosted by the Lead Association for Catering in Education (LACA). The theme of this year’s event was Navigating the Maze of Change and there were a range of speakers and demonstrations available to delegates throughout the event, as well as the supplier exhibition.
As always, the YPO stand was busy with visitors, and the team spent valuable time talking to potential customers about our food and catering product offer, as well as our portfolio of service frameworks including the YPO UK Food Deal. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with familiar faces from our existing member authorities and update them about our latest products and frameworks. Of course, all of the over 200 visitors to our stand had the opportunity to take part in our Golden Ticket raffle competition and win a prize – and even those who didn’t get a lucky ticket took home a special YPO goody bag for their efforts!
This year YPO is supporting LACA’s Host a School Chef programme for 2018, and visitors to the stand had the opportunity to find out how they could potentially spend the day in a 5 star restaurant kitchen. To find out more or to get involved, ring Host a School Chef coordinator Louise Hughes on 01244 399900, give her your details and Louise will do the rest to match up the caterer and restaurant for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After a long day at the exhibition, it was time for the LACA gala dinner, the pinnacle of which is the LACA Awards for Excellence, which aim to recognise the best teams and individual efforts in our industry. This year, YPO were incredibly proud to sponsor the LACA Unsung Hero Award, which was won by Rose Rawcliffe from Morecambe Bay County Primary School. Well done Rose!
