From April 2017, most business and organisations in England will be able to choose which company will supply their retail water services.
Open Water, the name given to the water market competing for non-residential supplies, becomes a reality on April 1. From this date, all non-residential customers in England can choose which company delivers their water retail services, which will no longer be provided by the current water supplier.
The market has seen a flurry of activity as new water retail companies obtain the necessary licenses to allow them to compete for this slice of business. Open Water is expected to generate over £200million in benefits to the UK economy, including :
- Lower bills
- Better water-efficiency
- Improved service standards from water retailers
- Customised services to meet business needs
But what does this mean for you? Public sector organisations, from hospitals, councils and police forces right through to schools and academies, all can participate in this new market. And YPO is here to help.
We’ve created a framework agreement, in conjunction with other leading public sector procurement bodies, to provide a fully-compliant process for you to access the market and benefit from water retailers competing for your business. The process is flexible to allow you to define exactly what you prioritise from your retailer, whether that is first-rate customer service, clear billing, best pricing, or assistance in helping you consume less water.
