We have some handy energy-saving tips to help you save money by doing the smallest things around your organization.
So, how can you save energy?
A few of the best ways to cut down on energy costs are:
- Reducing heat loss
- Controlling the thermostat
- Switching to LED bulbs
- Monitoring energy via a smart meter
- Switching of electronics
Lets take a closer look!
To reduce heat loss
Draught-proof your organisation, as a continuous draught can quickly undo all the good work of your heating – essentially wasting energy. Identify draughts around doors, windows, and other gaps as this can help trap warmth in and make your gas spend go further.
Control your thermostat
By constantly using your thermostat via an on/off or booster method could mean more gas is wasted – You will be comfier, and more efficient, if you set it and leave it on for while you need it. Setting your thermostat to somewhere between 19-21 degrees is ideal and turning down the temperature by just 1 degree could save on your bill by up to 10% per year.
Switching to LED light-bulbs
Lighting makes up around 11% of a typical power bill - LEDs will use 80% less energy. So, when it is time to replace those bulbs, go LED!
Monitoring your energy use
Install a smart meter to keep track of your organisation’s consumption. This will help you identify areas where you can make improvements and reduce energy waste.
Switch off electronics
By simply switching off unused devices or lights can save a considerable amount of money throughout the year.
A large percentage of energy if often consumed out of hours!
