3D Hanging Heart

With Mother's Day just a few weeks away, here are some quick ideas for gifts to make your mum feel extra special this year.

Our ideas are designed with a class of 30 children in mind, but feel free to try them out yourself!

Idea 1: Decoupage 3D Hanging Hearts

3D Hanging Heart

Estimated cost per child in a class of 30: 76p

You will need:

How to make it:

Step 1 Hanging Heart Step 2 Hanging Heart Step 3 Hanging Heart

  1. The heart pack contains six shapes, enough to make three hanging hearts. Take 2 pieces, 1 will have a die cut to the top, another to the bottom, slot together to create a 3D object.
  2. Paint the heart with a colour of your choice. For a neutral tone we have covered with a white acrylic.
  3. Once dry, decorate with your chosen design. We have selected decoupage papers which need to be applied with decoupage lacquer. Cut the paper into shapes and then stick. Allow to dry and apply more paper if required.

Idea 2: Happy Mother’s Day Cards

Mother's Day Card

Estimated cost per child in a class of 30: £1.29

You will need:

How to make it:

Step 1 Mother's Day Card Step 2 Mother's Day Card Step 3 Mother's Day Card Step 4 Mother's Day Card

  1. Crease the card on the edge. The finished card is portrait, measuring 22 x 15.5cm.
  2. Decorate the front of the card with chosen items. In this case we have used metallic pens, gems and flowers.
  3. Each pack of flowers will contain the paper centre piece of the flower, the flower head and a pipe cleaner. Using the glue stick, you can mix and match to create colourful finished flowers.
  4. To add the stem, the pipe cleaner is attached to the back with adhesive tape.
  5. To finish the card, add a flower shape to the front and enclose a finished flower inside.

Idea 3: Magnetic Photo Frames

Magnetic Photo Frames

Estimated cost per child in a class of 30: 59p

You will need:

How to make it:

Magnetic Photo Frames Step 1 Magnetic Frame Step 1 Magnetic Frame Step 2 Magnetic Frame
  1. The magnetic frames are pre-cut in a number of designs: heart, star, oval, square and circle. Using the glitter shapes enclosed, additional colouring pens and acrylic gems let the children personalise their frame.
  2. Cut the photo so it is slightly larger than the hole, then glue on the back of the frame and leave to dry.

A lot of love goes into the making of a home-made gift, so this is the perfect way to make mum feel extra special.
