How long have you been working at YPO: Since July 2018.
What do you like most about working at YPO?
Throughout my working career, I have always worked in very close customer-relation roles and have always been driven to provide the customer with the best possible experience. When I joined YPO in 2018, one of the main things I loved about the organisation was the values it strived to provide to its customers.
It is such a friendly place to work, no two days are ever the same and the organisation provides you with plenty of progression opportunities. It also provides you with a great work/life balance and creates a great sense of family feeling across the whole organisation.
What are your main responsibilities?
My main responsibilities are to conduct all energy further competitions through our online portal. I also assist the team with full administrative and technical support to drive the category and provide regular assistance and support to our customers. I communicate directly with customers at all levels of the business to identify and act on improvement opportunities. I aim to develop customer and supplier relationships which will help to improve our services within our frameworks and maintain the supporting role between myself and the Procurement Assistant in relation to the customers utility contracts.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Working in energy is very fast paced and is such a complex category to understand - having only joined the energy team in 2019 and coming from a completely different background within YPO, procurement was a very daunting next step for me. Every day is a school day and you are forever expanding your knowledge and learning something new, it is a challenging category but as the same time, very rewarding.

How did you get involved in procurement?
Having originally joined YPO with the sales outbound team in 2018, I then wanted to progress to the next step within my career. Although I loved my time in my previous role and had never worked in procurement before, I have always strived myself to provide the best possible service. I have always loved building close relationships with customers and suppliers and procurement offered me a lot of opportunities to carry on doing this whilst also learn and progress.
I joined the team in 2019 as a Procurement Assistant, and was fortunate enough to progress soon after to become the energy team Further Competition Co-ordinator.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
My spare time is generally taken up by either going to the gym, visiting the Peak District or Yorkshire Dales on weekends, running or cycling, visiting family on the east coast and visiting my brother as often as I can in US, Arizona.
On the rare occasion I have sat for long enough, I would say sitting down with an episode of Game of Thrones has to be up there! Favourite character: The Hound.
