What do you like most about working at YPO?
YPO is a not for profit organisation with the customer at the heart of everything they do. I enjoy the fast paced environment and helping to save the public sector money through effective procurement solutions.
What are your main responsibilities?
I’m one of two category managers in the energy procurement team. I lead on the purchasing decisions for the Flexible Gas and Electricity contracts through market and technical analysis. I also work on developing the purchasing strategies we offer to customers along with creating new ideas for framework offerings. Another one of my main responsibilities is looking after the existing the customer base and bringing on new customers.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
The energy industry is going through huge change at present as the sector looks to decarbonise, digitalise and decentralise. Renewable generation is now a large part of UK energy mix, with different technologies being developed on a regular basis to support this. One of the challenging parts of the role is keeping up to date with all these changes and making sure the frameworks are fit for purpose.
Describe your role in three words: Exciting Change Ahead
How did you get involved in procurement?
I started working in energy procurement in 2013 when I joined ESPO following the completion of my degree at University. During my 6 years on the energy team I had a variety of roles from Contract Officer to Trading and Risk Manager before moving up north to be a Category manager at YPO.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am a season ticket holder at my local Football club, so try to get down to as many games as possible. I also like to keep fit at the gym and enjoy visiting new countries. One of my aims is to visit every country in Europe.
