Name: Chloe Lynn
Position: AV, IT and Business Machines Category Buyer
How long have you been working for YPO?
I joined YPO in June 2018.
What do you like the most about YPO?
Working for a business that is rapidly becoming a ‘one stop shop’ for public sector procurement is a big tick for me. Understanding as much as possible about procurement and supply is my focus and working for a company that covers such a large variety of products and services is ideal. Due to the nature of the companies varied portfolio, the business is filled with many dynamic individuals who are pushing to deliver better value for money and innovation. Working in this environment is incredibly motivating and this is probably why the business has so many people who have worked here for a long time.
What are your main responsibilities?
I currently work as the AV, IT and Business Machines Buyer, I look after frameworks inclusive of Interactive Solutions, Laminating Consumables and Photography to name a few. My main responsibilities are to manage the frameworks for the full procurement cycle, manage catalogue production, support with any marketing activity to ensure we gain the best possible deals, work closely with my supplier base to ensure I am up to date with any product changes or new innovations, engaging with customers… The list is endless, but I love this about my job!
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Being new to the business I am still learning the YPO way of doing things. This is challenging because I am learning what is within our reach of capabilities. This is a great challenge to have as it is helping me gain knowledge of the business.
Describe your role in three words
Diverse, thought provoking…
How did you get involved in procurement?
I was working as a temp in a supermarket head office following deciding to move away from interior design during the financial crisis. I started as a merchandise planner but my boss at the time suggested I might be better suited to buying. I applied for a trading assistant role and never looked back!
Tell us a bit about your procurement experience
I have worked in procurement for 10 years, a large proportion of my working life! I have worked in a variety of roles in both public and private Sector covering very different products from NHS products to food.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I have a one year old, so a lot of my free time is filled with taking him to places to burn off his energy. I also have a dalmatian, he also keeps me active, we run or walk together daily.
Aside from my babies, myself and my husband spend most of our free time renovating our house so if you see me with paint in my hair that is why!!
