If you’re the type of person who’s already well underway with your Christmas preparations, you’ll not be surprised to hear that we’re already getting prepared for this year’s festivities at YPO.
Planning and producing our festive campaign takes around six months, so we kick off the process in late spring. This is so the campaign can be launched in September (probably still too early for some people to be thinking about Christmas!) but it means that everyone can plan their festive activities early and order any resources in the lead up to Christmastime.
The journey actually started back in April, when we started planning the campaign and our buyers started thinking about what products to feature this year. It goes without saying that some items have to be included (your staple favourites of glitter, paint and PVA) but we also like to keep up with new trends; for example, last year we extended our decoupage range.
A few weeks ago we had a photoshoot for the front cover of the catalogue. With the help of a few very professional young stars, we had great fun playing with fake snow and creating a variety of exciting craft ideas for you to try in the classroom.
In advance for the photoshoot, I had the job of creating our decopatch reindeer (brand new from September). The reindeer (that we’ve affectionately named Bobby!), was my Spring Bank Holiday weekend homework; I had great fun but it caused a few strange conversations when my friends and family spotted his legs on my dining room table!
The project is now sat with our designers, who have embraced the festive spirit, to bring all these elements together and lay out the catalogue pages. This process can take quite a while, as we have to thoroughly check all the products, prices, and images are correct.
Once everything has been triple-checked, we will be sending the final design to our printer in August.
