Worcestershire's Integrated Community Equipment Service is a working partnership between Worcestershire County Council, Worcestershire's three Clinical Commissioning Groups and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust.
The established procurement route for Ceiling Track Hoists (CTH) has involved the occupational therapist, or other professional, obtaining quotes from two suppliers. Not only was this time consuming for them, it was disruptive to the individual who would benefit from the CTH, as it meant two site visits were required.
An enquiry to YPO was quickly followed by a meeting with the category manager for social care, at which the process and the various specifications available were explained, along with transparent costings.
For Worcestershire's Community Equipment Service partners, the burden of running a tender exercise was eliminated by procuring through the YPO framework. For the occupational therapists and other professionals they are able to devote more time to their professional duties and no longer need to progress chase quotes for work.
The organisation chosen from the framework to supply CTH in Worcestershire is an established supplier to the county, and procuring through the YPO framework enabled this successful relationship to continue.
