  • Reduced timescales – Customers don’t need to run a full OJEU procurement through this framework as it has already been done by YPO. All you need to do is identify your requirements, present them to the market and award a contract.

This also benefits suppliers as they only need to complete on OJEU procurement.

  • Ease of use – Simple to use with expert advice available from YPO.

  • Excellent choice of supplier – more details can be found on the supplier tab or the user guide

  • Legality – A fully legal framework in line with EU regulations

  • Assured supplier standards – Providers are ‘pre-qualified’ as to their general suitability, which means when buying services from them, customers are assured they can meet specified requirements

  • Aggregation of spend – customers will receive the benefits of an aggregated volume of spend and the benefits associated with an increased leverage on the market

  • Pre-defined terms and conditions – terms and conditions of the contract have already been established, and signed and accepted by suppliers.

Boc Company Logo

BOC has produced industrial gases for over 120 years during which it has developed into a major global business. In September 2006, it joined with Linde, another major industrial gases business, to form The Linde Group. The two 'parent' businesses of the new organisation have complementary histories. BOC supplies compressed and bulk gases, chemicals and equipment. They offer a wide range of compressed and liquefied gases as well as chemicals, and are therefore an important partner for a huge variety of industries.

For more than a century, BOC‘s gases and expertise has contributed to advances in many industries and aspects of everyday life, including;

• Steel-making
 Refining
• Chemical Processing
• Environmental Protection
• Wastewater Treatment

• Welding and Cutting
• Food Processing and Distribution
• Glass Production
• Electronics
• Health Care

The Emergency Services and Blue Light team at YPO are very proud to have BOC as its single provider of industrial, medical and scientific gas and I’m personally very proud to work with them and manage this framework. The service they provide to our customers on a normal basis is excellent but we are currently witnessing their outstanding efforts in supporting our communities in the fight against COVID-19. Their teams are working together around the clock to supply critical equipment and gases for NHS hospitals and NHS Nightingale surge hospitals right across the UK.

In its valiant efforts with the support of many others, the NHS has created several field hospitals across the country. This is in response to the current pandemic. These temporary hospitals provide UK citizens with the right level of critical care they may need during the peak or potential second wave of coronavirus.

The creation of these temporary hospitals has taken great efforts and have involved excellent coordination from the Customer Engineering Service (CES) team, conference centres and stadiums in converting these spaces into Nightingale hospitals. These exceptional teams have been part of and are still very much a part of this great cross-functional team supporting the NHS in the fight against this terrible disease.

BOC have supported the NHS Nightingale hospitals in London - ExCeL, Harrogate Leeds - Convention Centre, Manchester - Central Convention Complex (formerly known as GMEX), Bristol - Exhibition and Conference Centre, The Principality Stadium in Cardiff (formerly known as The Millennium Stadium) and in Sunderland. These six projects provide a total of 7,250 extra beds. All of which need medical gas supplies.

I am not only proud to have BOC as YPO’s soul provider for this reason but in its ongoing efforts to support its existing customers during these unpredicted times. In addition to supporting the field hospitals, the teams are also upgrading many supply systems to support the extra demand for oxygen and these upgrades are happening in days rather than weeks. One such upgrade was at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, where BOC installed and commissioned an additional small mobile liquid oxygen (LOX) system closer to their ICU, providing 3,000 litres per minute (lpm) of oxygen. And in six days, the team moved another 3,000 lpm system from University Hospital of Hartlepool to support the main system at North Tees hospital. At Watford General, BOC installed new vaporisers with a vaporiser timed changeover unit to increase the hospital’s oxygen capacity, which required the use of a temporary horizontal vessel to facilitate the change. The first wave of upgrades for 25 hospitals in England and Wales sees BOC installing high flow systems to increase the site capacity or complete vaporiser upgrades to optimise the existing system.

With the support of its providers YPO are ready to continue the fight and help all customers in all settings where necessary.
