Creative Maths in the Primary National Curriculum

Course Details

This one day course explores creative ways of teaching maths in the primary curriculum. Discover how to bring the statutory content of the new National Curriculum to life in order to ensure engagement and enjoyment. The course will also cover ways of ensuring progress is made in all maths lessons, as well as provide ideas to create a ‘mathematically rich’ curriculum.

The course will provide delegates with stategies to:

Implement a ‘VIVID’ approach to the teaching of maths in their own school.
Identify ‘Essentials for Progress’ within the new primary curriculum.
Engage and inspire children.
Plan for visible progress.
Help children move from abstract confusion to concrete understanding.

Praised by OFSTED for the work he undertook leading his first school out of ‘Serious Weaknesses’ and into category 1 ‘Beacon’ status within a three year time frame, he is passionate in his belief that we need to develop 21st Century schools for 21st Century children.

Described as innovative and inspirational by colleagues who have attended his training, Andy is able to convey key messages in an engaging and entertaining manner. He continues to hone his presentational skills by touring at weekends with a professional theatre company.
