Inspiring Maths

Getting ‘em thinking and chatting about maths!

Course Details

One of the best ways of helping pupils learn and understand maths is to get them thinking and talking about it using fun and simple maths demos, experiments and mathemagic that they can do themselves or the teacher can demonstrate in class. You can use such novel activities to not only help pupils remember and understand the maths they need to learn, but also give them practice in the higher-order creative thinking skills as well, such as applying, analysing, problem solving, reasoning and enquiry. So ‘Dr Mark’s’ lively (and entertaining!) day is full of his fun, novel and easy to deliver hands-on maths investigations, puzzles, numerical and visual brain teasers, maths tricks and other engaging activities all designed to stimulate, enrich and inspire the mathematical minds of your pupils, and get them into the higher order thinking and learning mode effectively and naturally, almost without them realising they are even doing it! In other words, to get them thinking and chatting about maths!

The course will:
Give you an enjoyable day and a range of tried-and-tested maths activities to take back to the class that will inspire and engage pupils about maths.
Show how to effectively teach and illustrate maths theory with the use of practical, hands-on or teacher-demonstrated activities.
Show a way of teaching maths that is particularly effective for stimulating the higher order creative thinking, enquiry, problem solving and reasoning process skills in pupils of a wide range of ages and abilities.
Provide a range of engaging maths activities from across the curriculum, including numbers, shape,
space, measurement and handling data.
Show how such activities can be used in a variety of ways from quick lesson starters to full length lesson activities and even engaging homework.
Provide FREE site-licensed, printable digital teaching resources detailing all the activities covered on the course and more...
