This course will cover both word reading and comprehension skills for KS1 based on the national curriculum requirements and the KS1 teacher assessment framework.

Jo will explore phonic skills for reading as well as how you can encourage children to develop a pleasure for reading. She’ll also look at developing vocabulary through reading.

Help children develop the skills they need to become happy and skilled readers.

Learning Outcomes:

•Understand how grammar and punctuation aids understanding.
•Take away comprehension strategies to use in your classroom.
•Learn how to assess reading through running records.
