The Role
Joining the YPO Energy team at an exciting phase of our growth plan, we are investing in resource and processes, to place us in a strong position for the future and enabling us to be proactive in an ever-changing market and support customers’ requirements. This new position is pivotal in the success of this plan.
As an Energy Portfolio Trader, you will manage and develop YPO's energy aggregated portfolio, trading within risk and credit limits while ensuring compliance with UK legislation and procurement regulations.
Your key responsibilities will include monitoring energy markets, executing trades, managing hedging processes, and providing customer-facing support. You will develop trading strategies, maintain trading performance platforms, and ensure accurate portfolio position statements. Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, you will support framework procurement and manage supplier relationships to optimise pricing and performance.
Looking for a meaningful and varied career?
We're looking for someone with a degree in Maths, Physics, Economics, or similar, or someone with good experience in the energy industry or commodity trading. You'll need to know the intricacies of the energy markets, including non-commodity charges, environmental levies, and government policies.
You'll have an understanding of the challenges the public sector faces in the energy market. Demonstrating proficiency using IT and digital software including Microsoft Office is essential. You'll bring great organisational skills, the ability to design and improve trading processes, and have strong negotiation and risk management abilities. Your analytical skills will help you present and provide insight into data effectively.
