As a result of using centralised contracts to deliver essential services such as energy solutions, HR, highway and food services in 2016, YPO's member and associate member authorities all receive a share of profits which are paid back to them to invest in local services and demonstrate a long standing commitment by YPO to drive economic growth at a local level. As a result of a continued growth in Procurement Services at YPO, there is now an opportunity for a Category Buyer to join the Team.
Reporting into the Category Manager, Category Buyers are responsible for using research and intelligence to put together compliant routes to market to enable our customers to access the products and services that meet their needs.
The Category Buyer will work across a range of corporate and financial services including insurance, office supplies, business travel and other related services
Category Buying at YPO is a critical role and has great scope and opportunity to really make a difference for the communities in which we serve, providing procurement routes for significant amounts of customer spend. Category Buyers joining our team will be experienced in Procurement; putting together and running complex large-scale public sector procurements. The successful candidate will be a full member or studying towards being a member of the chartered institute of purchasing and supply (CIPS) or appropriate professional institute.
Additionally, the successful candidate will be a self-starter, who is able to manage and prioritise their own workload and develop category operational action plans. The ability to work with Marketing, wider YPO colleagues and suppliers to develop content to develop and grow the business is a key part of this role.
The Role Purpose:
The Corporate & Financial Services Team are currently looking to expand the range of offerings available to different areas of the public sector, the Category Buyer will be involved in working closely with Category Management in the development of procurement solutions through market research to ensure that both the products and services we procure and also the procurement process itself is fit for purpose and easily accessible by both customers and suppliers.
The post will focus on continuous development and growth through proactive management of key stakeholder groups including a very varied customer and supplier base.
