This year, Wakefield-based YPO, the UK's largest publicly owned buying organisation, has delivered a further £7.9 million in dividends to local authorities across the country despite unprecedented public sector challenges in recent years.

As a result of using centralised contracts to deliver essential services such as energy solutions, HR, highway and food services in 2016, YPO's member and associate member authorities all receive a share of profits which are paid back to them to invest in local services and demonstrate a long-standing commitment by YPO to drive economic growth at a local level.  In 2018 YPO has added Shared services to our portfolio, delivering Procurements on behalf of our customers and in essence, for a program of activity, becoming a part of our customers team. We are now seeking to put a dedicated Buyer role in to support the variety of customer activity we have in this area.

Reporting into Category Management, the Shared services Category Buyer will be responsible for undertaking a specific procurement project as agreed with our customer, or for working within our customers organisation to help them identify opportunities for savings, efficiencies and value for money as well as providing resource to offset some workload pressure. You will be working on a variety of procurement projects and placements directly on behalf of customer organisations, working within the Education market predominantly but supporting customer procurement activity as directed.

You will be working for a company voted in the Times 100 Best Not for Profit Organisations to Work for in 2015 and 2016, and one who operates in an extremely astute commercial manner. You will also get first hand experience of working with our customers organisations, such a Local government, Universities, Multi Academy Trusts, Sporting Event Charities and Police/Fire Authorities.

Category Buyers joining our team will be experienced in procurement and putting together and running complex and large-scale public sector procurements. You will likely be MCIPS, working towards or have other relevant professional qualifications or experience.

The Role Purpose:

As a Buyer for Shared Services, you will be joining at an exciting stage of our development and growth in this area. Your knowledge and experience of Public Sector Procurement will play an important role in helping to develop and drive forward the Shared Services Proposition. 

You will work with YPO and our Customers to run high quality Procurement processes as well as working with our customers to identify opportunities to enhance delivery going forward, ensuring that both the products and services we procure, and the procurement process itself, is fit for purpose. Excellent Customer and Supplier Relationship Management is an ongoing and vital element of the role.
